Description

Reports to: Director of Education

Location: Delhi

Salary: Commensurate with experience and sector standards


Key Responsibilities

 

Teaching and Learning

• Maintain high standards for teacher attendance (for both government and Peepul

teachers)

• Provide continuous support/feedback to teachers on teaching methods and work

towards improving their performance in classrooms

• Deliver teacher training modules as advised by the Education Director (for both

government and Peepul teachers)

• Identify strategies for raising the attainment of students and to work towards these

identified and agreed goals

• Use regular assessments to monitor progress and set targets, and respond

accordingly to the results of such monitoring

• Ensure that all pupils achieve at chronological age level or, if well below level, make

significant and continuing progress towards achieving at level

• Teach as required to bring up levels of children struggling behind grade level, to

challenge higher order children and as cover for absent teachers as needed

• Support the process of creating and streamlining curriculum documents for the

network


Student responsibilities

• Lead the way in pastoral care of children to ensure their holistic development. Role

model mindful conversations with children.

• Plan and review student assessments

• Meet student enrolment targets and attendance and maintain student retention

throughout the academic year

• Strictly follow Child Protection Policy and be responsible (in partnership with

Government In-Charge) for child safety and protection during school hours

• Ensure appropriate policies and procedures to support pupils with special

educational needs, and to promote inclusion


Leadership and Management

• Share responsibility for the management of the school with the School Leader and

the SDMC Principal, and contribute to the consultative and decision-making

processes

• Develop school report, assessment deck, academic calendar, school development

plan and timetable

• As line manager performance manage any staff member reporting to you

• Communicate and consult with staff, students, parents, and members of the local

community as necessary

• Maintain good working relationship with all government staff (Principal, School

Inspector, Director of Education etc.), and train SDMC staff on the Peepul way, and

invest them to work towards student attainment.

• Work with the Central Team and Government In-Charge to develop strong community

connect programmes

• Maintain a strong school community, characterised by consistent, orderly behaviour

and caring, respectful relationships

• Develop and maintain strong partnerships and ensure regular and productive

communication with parents and external stakeholders.


Operational and administrative

• Take responsibility for day-to-day management of the school

• Support the Central Team in organizing important school visits (preparing the agenda,

school readiness, participating in school tour)

• Liase with Community Officer, Operations Manager, and other teaching staff for daily

school operations.


Person Specification

Experience

• At least 5 years of total work experience, having spent at least 3 years in

teaching/education sector

• Preference will be given to candidates with NTT, B.El.Ed, B.Ed degrees or to alumni of

academic Fellowship programmes like Teach for India

• Experience of having worked successfully in at least one school in an urban, multicultural setting, teaching students from backgrounds of socio-economic disadvantage
